Just Bored
My friend Paul
Suggested I ask Jesus
About boredom
Maybe see how
The other half lives
So what, I ask
Tell Jesus I’m bored
Out of my mind?
He laughed that strange
High pitched guffaw
And said, why not!
So I wondered
How do I go about it?
And really
Aren’t there rules
Some way to be or say
Will Jesus
Give me some truth
An itinerary of merriment
I’ve poked fun of Jesus
Over the years
All dogma
If truth be known
But its left me empty
Unfulfilled
A wandering Jew
Without a home
I know the story
Of that wanderer
How it came to pass
Perhaps my Jesus jokes
Are my penance
So first
I got down on my knees
But it was painful
So I sat down on the floor
But my ass became numb
I laid down
And fell asleep
I woke up
In the middle of the night
Decided to try again
This time
I used a chair
And asked Jesus
For his help
I told him I was bored
And would like an answer
If he wasn’t too busy
I waited
Nothing
I asked again and waited
Still nothing
I continued for hours
Completely bored
So I stopped
And lit a cigarette
Realizing
I may always be bored
But it could be worse
Even Jesus knows that
Just look at his
Last day

Okay, now that you’re done asking Jaysus, how about Bilbo Baggins, Rapunzel, old Mother Hubbard and Fred Flintstone.
Personally, I always pass my boredom away with Abbot and Costello. This was very smunny (savvy and funny) B.

I hear he was a pretty nice guy (excluding that money change event). Thing about some of those helpful types is if you cross them there can be a lot of trouble.

Found myself bored with the former theology
Went out, found another, adhered to it, got in to it
Time went by, same dissatisfaction reappeared
Yes, that’s right, I was rebored

You laugh
God smiles
and the Devil
dejectedly mutters an expletive
Me? I’m off in a corner, a scribblin’ somethin’ new.

I can relate to the “how to” piece of praying. Ultimately, and perhaps, ironically, though, it seems like you got something out of it. I suppose that is the purpose…be grateful? Maybe I should follow your lead and try the “chair method.”

Hey Tel, Too funny….The chair method! Yass
